About the Painter
Trained as an architect, Philippe Charles Jacquet is a self-taught painter. For more than 20 years, he has lived and worked in the North of Paris, France.
Painter, writer or poet, his work is part of a dreamlike world, a journey between heaven and earth. Like its architectural lines, Philippe Charles Jacquet's art contains solid architectonic buildings grounded in the earth of the painting plane. His works represent natural landscapes and transcend them. First and foremost, they tell us a story in a pure, vast, and free universe. The theme of water which marked his childhood is omnipresent there.
The architectural balance of his painting, the mastery of the technique and the symmetry of the line reveal an ideal world. That of a strike at low tide where the painter observes the infinite perspective from his lighted window; or the silent presence of the human soul echoing its own experience ...
Paintings of cargo ships, recumbent boats, peculiar shores, dreams, vision of a suspended moment, the imaginary world of Philippe Charles Jacquet transports us out of time, between dream and reality.
